In Home & Community Support Services to children with Mental Retardation and Autism under section 24 of the Maine Care Regulations, also known as Free Standing Day Habilitation.
Day Habilitation is a "service or training that focuses primarily on behavior management and physical development, and promotes self maintenance, self-awareness, and self-motivation and addresses sensory, motor, and psychological needs” according to the Department of Behavioral and Developmental services. Examples: helping a person learn or maintain daily living skills (hygiene, dressing, laundry, etc.) -or- helping a person learn to better manage their behavior when frustrated, scared or angry -or- helping a person learn to use Community resources.
